Trade Your Skills For Services With Local Skills Swap

Whilst enjoying a cup of coffee and the local papers/magazines, I came across an advertisement for a truly unique service. The genius behind the local Skillswap venture has captured the spirit of being neighbourly, with the 'you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours', modern approach to getting what you want.

Skillswap could help you find someone to end your decorating nightmares!
The idea is simple: Register for free, find local people who have the skills you require then swap skills with them and get things done for nothing. Think of it as 'freecycing for services'.
To skillswap you can either browse current requests and answer the members directly, or search for a specific skill on the members page once logged in. The site is divided into umbrella groups covering Birmingham & West, Bristol & Somerset, Channel Islands, Devon, Lincolnshire, London, Norfolk, Staffordshire and Suffolk, and then smaller local groups, luckily Crystal Palace & Dulwich has its own category.
Skills can cover anything from decorating to dog walking and must be a fair swap in the sense that both parties should spend the same amount of time carrying out the skill. So if you're in need of a pair of helping hands, then register online upload your skills and search for a local with the required skills.
If you are a local trader or business owner who requires help, you can advertise for free on the site so long as:
The location of your business must correspond with a specific localskillswap group
Your business is in some way specialised OR your business is green, eco-friendly or sustainability in some way.
If you feel you are eligible for free advertising, send artwork (180 x 150 pixels) to: advertising@localskillswap.com

This is a brilliant idea, I will happily trade my love of interior design for a trimmed new garden!
