You could be forgiven for thinking that autumn had arrived early, with the current bad weather interrupting our recent mini heatwave, but alas it is still August and we have compiled a list of the top ten summer gems around the Triangle.

Here are some suggestions:

1. Crystal Palace National Sports Centre - By far the best sports centre in south London, newly refurbished the venue offers the finest facilities, Olympic sized pool with diving boards and stadium regularly hosting major sporting events.

2. Crystal Palace Museum - Small building situated on the (Anerley Hill) side of the park. Entrance is free and exhibitions include historical memorabilia and artifacts from the original palace, as well as drawings and artwork of the park, original train lines and surrounding areas. Open Sat, Sun & Bank Holidays, 11am - 4.30pm.

3. Crystal Palace Park Farm - Another free local treat for the family and kids. The farm is packed with interesting animals including kune kune pigs, chinchillas, goats, parakeets, snakes, lizards and Shetland ponies to name a few. Open weekdays (excl Wed) 12 - 4pm.

4. The Bigger Picture Gallery - Lovely professional creative addition to the Triangle, the gallery provides regular exhibition space and events for local artists, as well as art and yoga classes.

5. Haynes Lane Market - I absolutely LOVE this treasure trove of collectables, antiques, books, jewellery and other goodies. Open Tues, Fri, Sat & Sun 11am - 5pm.

6. Blue Mountain Cafe - A cute little cafe that offers a slightly more vintage dining experience. The menu includes a selection of interesting signature pies, salads, quiches and antipasti, as well as a great selection of teas, coffees, cakes and pastries.

7. Westow House - The Triangle's favourite pub formerly known as the Blue Bottle, has grown into its new look and with the newly added kitchen it now serves one of the best Sunday roasts on the Triangle, complete with unusual foreign beers and ciders, regular dj nights, table football and pool table.

8. Dinosaur Park & Lakes - Situated at the Ledrington Rd entrance of the park the legendary dinosaur park is a timeless pleasure for both young and old, there are also a great selection of birds to see.

9. The Alma Garden Market - The popular market has returned to the Alma beer garden and once again will be buzzing with local traders selling everything from homemade organic soups, cakes and pastries, to soaps, cosmetics, bags and jewellery...and if the sun ever returns the Alma bbq is worth a visit for man sized burgers and spicy jerk chicken. Saturdays - 12 - 4pm.

10. Digital Soul @ Gautama - The fabulous duo return every other Friday at the popular bar and night spot on Crystal Palace. If you love your urban funky and soulful house then you don't want to miss this.

Next date - Friday 20th August: 9pm - 1.30am. (Smart dress/over 23's).
