Pound Stretcher Is The New Woolworth's

The empty shop space that has dominated Westow Street since Woolworth's closed down, opened up on Saturday 30th April as a Pound Stretcher and about time too.

Woolworth's
was so much more than an over glorified sweet shop, it also sold many
affordable items for the home and these were primarily the things I
missed when it closed, but it seems to have been reincarnated in the
form of Pound Stretcher. The inside of the shop is almost exactly
the same, minus the pick-an-mix, music and expensive electrical items,
but with the addition of some much needed garden furniture.
I
visited on Saturday afternoon and it was pleasantly quiet, so clearly
word of the opening has not fully circulated yet, inside there are aisles
of soft furnishings, homeware,
kitchenware, car care products, paint, storage solutions, luggage,
stationary, food, drinks, toiletries and other very useful stuff.
It
couldn't have arrived at a better time, when most people are struggling
to afford the little luxuries that make life seem slightly happier,
such as a garden table and chair set for just £49.99 and a three tier
greenhouse for a tenner! As most of us are
making the most of the fine weather by spending time with our family and
friends barbecuing and street partying, this is the the perfect place to
visit if you're in need of a few garden enhancements.
Pound Stretcher is open from Monday to Saturday, 9am - 6pm and Sundays, 10am - 4pm or you can buy online.
