I have heard on the grapevine that the Cambridge Pub will be closing in the very near future, however this is not the first time I've heard rumours of such a pleasing nature. Most locals and visitors who enjoy Crystal Palace nightlife, will know that the delapidated pub has a particularly bad reputation, fuelled by the likes of the clientelle (if that's what you can call them) allowed in the premises. On any given weekend night a long line of reprebates spill out from the noisy, den of iniquity onto the main streets, sometimes leading to fights and generally bringing the area into disrepute, but this is my personal opinion. My friends and I all agree that given the classy, artistic vision most locals have for the area, the Cambridge would make a lovely, intimate jazz cafe styled bar, providing a stylish hangout for a more cultured crowd and sufficiently erasing the problematic stain on the most predominant corner of the Triangle. What do YOU think??

Well maybe the undesirable clientelle will crash into your wonderful little world and what would you do in your artisan world then.

...I would hire door staff! The venue doesn't necessariliy have to be artisan, it could just be redeveloped like they did with the Grape & Grain and made more welcoming...Surely you can't think it's acceptable to for the pub to stay as it is?!

just because a pub closes down not always mean it has been bought or has a buyer.. the brewery who own it (presumably) might be losing money keeping it open..!? is it better to have it open as it is or closed to its regulars? where would the regulars go..?

...the brewery/owners are definitely losing money keeping it open and are clearly struggling to find a buyer or alternative management. Even though there are a handful of decent regulars who drink there during the day, they're not the same crowd that populate the corner in the early hours of the weekend. I'm sure many of the regulars would be equally as happy drinking at places such as the Alma, the Hollybush, the Postal Order and the Gipsy Hill Tavern.
