Eric Pickles is officially this year's Eberneezer Scroodge, after announcing the extent of the fall in local council's formula grants. Interestingly enough Lambeth council has been hit the hardest of all the boroughs surrounding Crystal Palace taking a massive 7% cut in funding, while Bromley gets just under 2.5%. Apparently many of the poorer boroughs have already received higher sums from the Treasury than their neighbours, so this might not present an accurate picture, but it does seem to illustrate a bias towards councils in more affluent areas. What do YOU think?
