Police are appealing after a teenager was hit around the head on Friday afternoon (23rd September 2012) on Highbury Avenue.
The 16-year-old didn't manage to catch a glimpse of the suspect and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police are keeping an open mind as to whether this was linked to another incident whereby a woman was approached by a man carrying a machete on the same day.
On that occasion, the suspect is described as a black man, aged between 18 and 20, approximately 5ft 6ins tall with a medium build.
He has dark short curly hair and is believed to be wearing dark trousers and a grey round-neck top.
Police say they're keeping an open mind as to whether this was linked to another incident in the area, whereby a teenage was assaulted.
Detective inspector Simon Harding, from Croydon CID said: "We're appealing for anyone to come forward who might have seen the male described or who may have these incidents take place."
"We would urge anyone with information to come forward particularly if you saw a man acting suspiciously matching this description."
Anyone who witnessed either incident or with information should contact Croydon CID on 020 3276 2172.
