Backward running race start line!!
Sponsored by William Hill, the London Backward Run will incorporate races of 1km and 3km, which open to anyone wanting to try testing the running challenge, but be advised it's not as easy as it looks! There is also a 1km charity backward fun run and walk. This is a unique opportunity for absolutely anyone to create a fun and quirky fundraising challenge for themselves, work colleagues or friends, with the option of either walking or running the 1km course backwards, there is a challenge for everyone.
The organisers hope the races will promote backward running as an alternative exercise and kick start a new fitness craze for all ages, whilst also raising the profile of backward running overseas. Interestingly enough backward running has some great health benefits - it burns a third more calories than forward running, reduces the potential for future injury, improves your balance, co-ordination, peripheral vision and hearing, can alleviate chronic back pain and can make the spine more supple and has also been shown to be up to 6 times more efficient than forward running!
There's still time to sign up if you fancy giving it a go...The race kicks off at 10.30am till 2.30pm, so why not go along for a few hours of amusement. For more information on the event contact event organiser Sally Raynes on: info@reverserunning.com
