Appeal to trace man involved in assault in Babington Road

Police have released an E-FIT of a man they would like to speak to in connection to an assault in Babington Road just before Christmas.

The victim, aged 22 and a friend got out of a taxi at the junction of Mitcham Lane and Babington Road where they were chased by two white men down the street.

The first suspect grabbed the victim and wrestled him to the floor. The victim was hit him with a bottle and stabbed three times in the leg.

The suspect then threw the bottle at the friend who was running away however fortunately missed him.

Both suspects said nothing to the victims and made no attempt to steal anything from them.

The suspects then made their escape towards Streatham High Street.

The first suspect is described as a white man with a groomed beard aged in his mid 20's, 5'8 in height of a stocky build wearing a patterned t-shirt, hoody and brown chinos.

The victim received medical attention for his injuries and has since been discharged from hospital.

No arrests have been made.
